Te Wiki o te Reo Baking Class

Have fun and enjoy two-hour session at the Edmonds Baking School with our guest baking instructor Aroha, who will be teaching in full Te Reo!

Learn how to make Maori Fried Bread, as shown in the Edmonds Taku Puka Tahutao Tuatahi Cookbook.

There are 12 spaces available for each lesson, and it is strictly for 8-18 years only. Parents and caregivers are welcome to watch their mokopuna from the glass outside the room.

All participants receive a goodie bag! A koha of $20 is needed to secure your online place.


What your child will learn

  • How to make Maori Fried Bread
  • How to follow instructions in Te Reo and hopefully to respond in Te Reo
  • How to follow a recipe, work cleanly and hygienically

On the day

  • Please wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes
  • Bring a can-do attitude!
  • Water bottle to stay hydrated
  • Nothing else - all the ingredients, equipment and an Edmonds apron will be provided during the session 
  • There is free parking available 

Appropriate for

  • Ages 8-18 years
  • Please note that parents/caregivers are welcome to settle their child/ren for 5 minutes and we request that you return 10 minutes before the class ends
  • Please note we are unable to cater for alternate dietary requirements. All our recipes use Edmonds Flour or Edmonds Self-Raising Flour and Chelsea Sugar. We do not have any nuts in our baking school. We are happy to send the ingredients list for any class if you would like to check anything

Cancellation Policy:

Due to ingredient, preparation and labor costs incurred in advance of the class, cancellation of attendance must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance or payment becomes non-refundable.


No-shows or last-minute cancellations are not refunded

Should the class chef be unavailable to conduct their baking class due to personal reasons or illness, all attendees for that class will be notified at the time.
